Taxon description
Gatunek występujący głównie w strefie tropikalnej i subtropikalnej, skąd jest sporadycznie importowany do wielu krajów o zimniejszym klimacie. Do Polski niekiedy zawleczony, ale nigdzie nie zaaklimatyzowany. Larwy żerują na nasionach w strączkach Tamarindus indica L.
