Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986a:
Gatunek rozpowszechniony od skrajnych prowincji północnych Fennoskandii i europejskiej części ZSRR przez całą środkową Europę aż do północnej i wschodniej części Francji oraz północnych Włoch. W Polsce znany z nielicznych stanowisk na Pobrzeżu Bałtyku oraz w zachodniej i południowej części kraju. Zasiedla tereny nizinne i niższe położenia górskie. Chrząszcz pozbawiony zdolności lotu gdyż ma skrzydła zredukowane; występuje w mrowiskach gatunków z rodzaju Formica L., zwłaszcza w gniazdach F. rufa L. Postacie dojrzałe zimują.
