Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1990a:
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w zachodniej części Palearktyki. W Polsce jest dość pospolity i choć nie był jeszcze notowany z niektórych krain, występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze prócz wyższych partii górskich. Według L. Borowca (1983e) dawne dane z piśmiennictwa o występowaniu S. sericeus (Geoffr.) należy uznać za niepewne, gdyż nie był odróżniany od S. calystegiae (Lukj. et Ter-Min.), wobec czego wzmianki o występowaniu w niektórych krainach winny być potwierdzone nowymi materiałami. Larwy żerują w nasionach powojów — Convolvulus L. i jako jedyny gatunek ze strąkowców może spełniać pożyteczną rolę w uprawach roślin, ograniczając produkcję nasion tych uciążliwych chwastów.
