Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1974:
Synantropijny gatunek zachódniopalearktyczny, rozmieszczony głównie w południowej i środkowej Europie oraz południowej części północnej Europy, wykazywany również z północnej Afryki, Kaukazu i Azji Mniejszej. Zamieszkuje przeważnie piwnice i budynki gospodarcze na niżu i w dolinach górskich, niekiedy pojedynczo znajdowany w jaskiniach. Ze względu na skryty sposób życia na ogół rzadko spotykany i przeważnie pojedynczo, przypadkowo tylko licznie, np. L. Hildt (1907) tylko raz jeden znalazł, przed przeszło 100 laty, około 50 okazów podczas zrywania starej podłogi.
