Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1997:

Holarktyczny gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w Europie od skrajnych obszarów północnych Skandynawii po kraje śródziemnomorskie. Jest pospolitym ryjkowcem, zarówno na niżu, jak i w niższych położeniach górskich. Występuje w wilgotnych lasach, zaroślach, zrębach, dolinach rzek i potoków, na mokrych łąkach, bagnach i torfowiskach. Żyje na wierzbach — Salix L. i topoli osice — Populus tremula L. Samica składa jaja w nerwy liścia. Larwa drąży szeroką minę, rozciągającą się do brzegów liścia, często wypełniającą połowę jego powierzchni w części wierzchołkowej. Larwa przeobraża się w poczwarkę w kulistym, z własnej wydzieliny kokonie.
