Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1992:
Gatunek szeroko rozprzestrzeniony w Europie i północnej części Azji po Chiny, Koreę, Tajwan i Japonię, wykazywany ponadto z Afryki Północnej. Głównym żywicielem jest sosna pospolita, rzadziej żerowiska spotykano na świerku, limbie, wejmutce i kosodrzewinie. Żeruje pod cienką korą na gałęziach i w górnej części strzały. Chodnik macierzysty poprzeczny w kształcie dwuramiennej klamry, której jedno ramię jest zwykle krótsze. Kornik ten jest jednożerny, oba ramiona żerowiska wydrąża jedna i ta sama samica, która składa jaja w bocznych niszach. Chodniki larwalne krótkie. Larwy przed przepoczwarczeniem wgryzają się pionowo w drzewo.
