Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Motyl pospolity, spotykany w środowiskach leśnych, parkach i nad brzegami rzek i jezior. Występuje w dwu pokoleniach: pierwsze od V do VI, oraz drugie, od VII do X. Gąsienice żerują na rdestach i szczawiach, wg różnych źródeł także na pokrzywach, komosach i innych w VII i VIII oraz IX i X. Dorosłe prowadzą ukryty tryb życia, żerują nocą, dzień spędzają nisko przy ziemi. Zimują poczwarki płytko pod powierzchnią ziemi.
