Europa, Syberia.
Gatunek holocykliczny. Oligofag żyjący na korzeniach różnych roślin z rodziny złożonych. Kolonie tej mszycy zawsze odwiedzane są przez mrówki. U nas znaleziony na następujących roślinach: Artemisia vulgaris L., Artemisia campestris L., Achillea millefolium L., Leucanthemum uliginosum L., Centaurea scabiosa L., Sonchus arvensis L., Sonchus oleraceus L., Lapsana communis L., Taraxacum officinale Web., Cichorium intybus L., Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop., Arctium tomentosum Mill. i Helianthus tuberosus L.
