Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1974:
Gatunek rozpowszechniony w górach Europy Środkowej. W Polsce. Zamieszkuje zwarcie Karpaty, Sudety i ich pogórza, gdzie jest dość często poławiany, natomiast rzadziej spotykany na stanowiskach niżowych, na które prawdopodobnie z gór bywa znoszony wodami popowodziowymi. Zasiedla głównie lasy reglowe, ale występuje również wyżej w strefie kosodrzewiny i nagich szczytów. W Tatrach spotykany do wysokości przynajmniej 1900 m n.p.m.
