Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1983:

Gatunek występujący w południowej i środkowej części Europy, wykazywany również z Danii, szwedzkiej wyspy Gotland, zachodniej części Afryki Północnej, Kaukazu i Azji Zachodniej. Na obszarze rozmieszczenia w miarę posuwania się z północy i wschodu na południe i zachód coraz częściej spotykany. W Polsce znany z nielicznych rozproszonych stanowisk w różnych częściach kraju. Występuje na obszarach nizinnych i pagórkowatych, przeważnie na miejscach piaszczystych — na wyschniętych trupach, kościach, skórach, wypluwkach sów i suchych ekskrementach lisa. Poławiany głównie od marca do lipca, pojedynczo i w innych miesiącach, gdyż postać dorosła przezimowuje.
