Gatunek prawdopodobnie borealno-górski, znany z całej Fennoskandii i gór środkowej Europy. W Polsce jest nadzwyczaj rzadko spotykanym chrząszczem. Znany dotychczas tylko z dwu okazów złowionych w 1912 roku na Śnieżniku; inne dawniejsze dane były błędne, gdyż oparte były na złym oznaczeniu (Polentz 1943). Według A. Horiona (1963) dawne dane o występowaniu w Karkonoszach (Letzner 1884g, 1886, Gerhardt 1910, Horion 1951) należy odnieść do innego gatunku — Eusphalerum minutum (Fabr.). Znajdowany wiosną na kwitnących wierzbach i knieci błotnej — Caltha palustris L.
