Taxon description
Gatunek rozsiedlony w Europie (zwłaszcza w części zachodniej), Afryce Północnej, na Azorach, Maderze i Wyspach Kanaryjskich. W Polsce znany z siedmiu krain południowych oraz z Pucka i Koszalina na północy. Spotykany w budynkach gospodarczych (stodoły, stajnie, piwnice itp.) — wśród gnijącej słomy, sieczki, siana, na drewnie pokrytym pleśnią; rzadziej znajdowany w środowiskach naturalnych — w grzybach nadrzewnych oraz wśród resztek pokarmowych przy paśnikach dla zwierząt.
