Taxon description
Szeroko rozpowszechniony gatunek palearktyczny, notowany nadto z Ameryki Północnej i Środkowej oraz Kuby. W Europie znany z prawie całego obszaru prócz skrajnych północnych prowincji Fennoskandii. Występuje zarówno na terenach nizinnych jak i górskich, docierając do strefy subalpejskiej. Znajdowany nad stojącymi i płynącymi wodami na piaszczystych i szlamistych pobrzeżach, pod opadłymi liśćmi, płatami mchów i kamieniami.
