Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986b:
Gatunek rozsiedlony głównie w zachodniej części Europy Południowej i Europie środkowej, docierający na północ do Anglii, Danii, Szwecji i Finlandii. W Polsce chrząszcz ten należy do wielkich rzadkości — jest znany tylko z Mazowsza na podstawie wzmianki sprzed przeszło 70 lat. Występowanie omawianego gatunku w naszym kraju wymaga dalszych badań. Spotykany wśród rozkładających się i pleśniejących szczątków roślinnych, w miałkim próchnie na dnie dziupli drzew, w gniazdach myszy i w mrowiskach Formica rufa L.
