Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986a:
Gatunek europejski o niedostatecznie poznanym rozsiedleniu, gdyż przez niektórych autorów uważany za barwną aberację Cryptolestes spartii (Curt.), co chyba nie jest właściwe, gdyż gatunek ten występuje tylko w środowiskach naturalnych, gdy C. capensis (Waltl) zasiedla środowiska synantropijne. W Polsce znany tylko z dwu krain, od przeszło 60 lat nie był u nas notowany.
