Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1983:
Gatunek zamieszkujący Europę południową i południowo-wschodnią część Europy środkowej, nadto notowany z Egiptu, Syrii, Azji Mniejszej i Kaukazu, przy tym w areale rozmieszczenia w miarę posuwania się z południa na północ coraz rzadziej spotykany. W Polsce nie występuje. Dawna wzmianka sprzed przeszło 130 lat o występowaniu na Śląsku Górnym i w Beskidzie Zachodnim nie znalazła później nigdzie potwierdzenia. Żyje w strumieniach i jeziorach w wyższych partiach górskich, również w kałużach powstałych z topniejącego śniegu w strefie alpejskiej, rzadziej występuje na podgórzu.
