Gatunek występujący w dwu formach geograficznych, do niedawna uważanych za podgatunki, ale o bardzo mało zróżnicowanych i nie ustalonych w pełni cechach taksonomicznych. Zachodnia forma nominatywna zamieszkuje Półwysep Iberyjski, południową Francję i Włochy, zaś. wschodnia forma aloes Fabr. obejmuje swym zasięgiem Dalmację, Półwysep Bałkański, Ukrainę, Azję Mniejszą, Syrię, Zakaukazie, Iran i Afganistan, a na północ przez Węgry i Słowację prawdopodobnie dociera do południowej części Polski. Wykazywany u nas jedynie z trzech krain, dane te jednak wymagają potwierdzenia. Ze Śląska notowany na podstawie informacji z ubiegłego wieku, a o występowaniu omawianego gatunku na tym obszarze wątpił już J. Gerhardt (1891e), a także A. Horion (1958). Wymagania środowiskowe nie znane.
