Gatunek palearktyczny, rozmieszczony w prawie całej Europie od Wysp Brytyjskich i południowej części Fennoskandii aż do Półwyspu Iberyjskiego, Włoch i Jugosławii. Notowany ponadto z greckiej wyspy Kefalinii. W Polsce znany z nielicznych stanowisk tylko w pięciu krainach. Występuje na terenach bagiennych, na piaszczystych i żwirowatych pobrzeżach wód pokrytych lekko szlamem, pod napływkami, opadłymi liśćmi oraz pod morszczynami na wybrzeżach morskich.
