Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986a:
Gatunek zamieszkujący głównie północną Europę, w Skandynawii docierający do skrajnych prowincji północnych, notowany też z izolowanych stanowisk w okolicy Paryża, w północnych Włoszech, Hesji i Bawarii, Austrii i Polsce. U nas znany z dwóch stanowisk. Zasiedla drzewa liściaste, zwłaszcza powalone na ziemię przez wiatr brzozy, dęby i olchy. Spotykany często w pniach nadpalonych przez pożar. Larwy odbywają rozwój w przegrzybiałym drewnie, często w towarzystwie Platyrhinus resinosus (Scop.) i Cryptophagus corticinus Thoms.
