Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1983:

Gatunek rozmieszczony od Wysp Brytyjskich i Fennoskandii południowej przez całą środkową część Europy aż do Hiszpanii, Włoch środkowych i północnej części Półwyspu Bałkańskiego, na wschód sięgający do europejskiej części ZSRR (Leningrad, Jarosław, Kijów); notowany poza tym z Tunezji w Afryce Północnej i z Azji. W Polsce chrząszcz rzadki, znany z pojedynczych stanowisk w pięciu krainach oraz z kilku miejscowości na Śląsku Dolnym. Zasiedla tereny nizinne, podgórza i głębokie doliny górskie. Żyje na pobrzeżach wód na miejscach piaszczystych i szlamistych skąpo porośniętych mchami i glonami.
