Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986a:
Gatunek palearktyczny, zamieszkujący całą Europę, a w środkowej jej części jest najpospolitszym gatunkiem omawianego rodzaju, ale na południu spotykany rzadko i sporadycznie; notowany także z Madery i Ameryki Północnej.. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze, ale nie znany jest jeszcze z niektórych krain. Znajdowany na padlinie oraz pod rozkładającymi się szczątkami roślinnymi oraz w pryzmach kompostowych; w zimie poławiany pod odstającą korą i w napływkach popowodziowych.
