Gatunek rozsiedlony głównie w krajach śródziemnomorskich i w środkowej Europie, wykazywany nadto z Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii, jednej południowej prowincji Szwecji, Azji Mniejszej, Kaukazu i Syberii. W Polsce znany z nielicznych, rozproszonych stanowisk. Znajdowany rzadko i pojedynczo pod rozkładającymi się szczątkami roślinnymi, napływkami, w pryzmach kompostowych i nawozie.
