Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1993:
Gatunek notowany z nielicznych stanowisk w Szwecji, Danii, Niemczech, Polsce, Czechach, Słowacji, Bośni i na Węgrzech. Chrząszcz mylony często z Phloeophagus turbatus Boh, który jednak w Europie Środkowej nie występuje (z wyjątkiem Polski). W Polsce notowany z nielicznych stanowisk rozmieszczonych w ośmiu krainach. Bytuje w rozkładającym się drewnie drzew liściastych. Jako siedliska tego ryjkowca między innymi były podawane buki, graby, klony, wiązy i leszczyny. Postacie dojrzałe ukazują się we wrześniu, zimują i przeżywają do lipca. Larwy odżywiając się drewnem, drążą w nim kręte chodniki.
