Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1978:
Gatunek szeroko rozprzestrzeniony w prawie całej Holarktyce. W Polsce występuje od północnej części kraju aż do Tatr. Omyłkowo notowany z okolicy Ojcowa (W. Eichler 1914) i Pabianic (W. Eichler 1930), odnośne okazy dowodowe według W. Szymczakowskiego (1959b) należą do Sciodrepoides watsoni (Spence). Zamieszkuje zarówno tereny otwarte, jak i lesiste, znajdowany na padlinie, rozkładających się szczątkach roślinnych, niekiedy w gniazdach ssaków i ptaków.
