Taxon description
Gatunek obejmujący zasięgiem prawie wszystkie góry w Europie środkowej: wschodnią część Alp, Karpaty i góry na Węgrzech. W Polsce jest chrząszczem rzadko spotykanym, łowionym na kilku rozproszonych stanowiskach górskich w Karpatach i Sudetach. Zasiedla głównie lasy w strefie subalpejskiej, w Alpach dociera do wysokości około 2500 m n.p.m. Występuje wśród mchów porastających pnie i pniaki, w płatach mchów naziemnych, w humusie pod kamieniami, w kępkach trawy i pod opadłymi liśćmi.
