Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1995:
Gatunek zamieszkujący głównie środkową część Europy, docierający na wschód do Podola, a na północ do południowej Szwecji, Finlandii i Karelii. W Polsce jest to chrząszcz mało znany, stosunkowo niedawno u nas znaleziony, notowany dotychczas z nielicznych stanowisk tylko w dziewięciu krainach. Występuje w wodach stojących i na ich pobrzeżach. Zbierany wielokrotnie razem z gatunkiem pokrewnym Tanysphyrus lemnae (Payk.) na roślinach wodnych z rodzaju rzęsa — Lemna L., będących prawdopodobnie roślinami żywicielskimi także omawianego gatunku. Bionomia nie jest znana.
