Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1995:
Gatunek zamieszkujący głównie środkową część Europy oraz obszary sąsiednie, docierający na północ do Wysp Brytyjskich i środkowych części Fennoskandii. W Polsce występuje od Bałtyku aż po Tatry. Zasiedla lasy liściaste i mieszane. Larwy żerują i odbywają rozwój w wilgotnym martwym drewnie gałęzi i cienkich pni buków — Fagus L., brzóz — Betula L., dębów — Quercus L. i jarząbów — Sorbus L. Postacie dojrzałe spotykano na tych drzewach, ponadto na zmurszałych pniakach, w chruście, na martwych gałęziach leżących na ziemi, w ściółce i wśród mchów.
