Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986c:
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w niemal całej Holarktyce. W Europie występuje głównie w środkowej i południowej części kontynentu, nie docierając do obszaru nadatlantyckiego, a jako importowany jest notowany z Danii i Finlandii. W Polsce jest na ogół spotykany rzadko i pojedynczo. Występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze prócz wyższych partii górskich. Bionomia omawianego gatunku jest poznana niedostatecznie. Występuje w suchych miejscach, w próchnie starych drzew, pod odstającą korą, w gniazdach ptaków i błonkówek, w mieszkaniach i zbiorach entomologicznych. Postacie dojrzałe poławiano także na kwiatach i przy wyciekającym soku z drzew. Larwy żywią się wylinkami larw oraz martwymi owadami.
