Taxon description
Gatunek rozsiedlony od Wysp Brytyjskich, południowych prowincji Fennoskandii i Karelii aż do Francji, północnych Włoch i Siedmiogrodu. W Polsce chrząszcz rzadko spotykany, notowany z siedmiu krain, przeważnie z pojedynczych, stanowisk, tylko na Śląsku Dolnym liczniej poławiany. Żyje w powierzchniowej warstwie ziemi, przeważnie przy podstawowej części grzyba, czernidłaka kołpakowatego — Coprinus comatus (Müll.) ex Fr. Gray; w Danii znajdowano larwy, poczwarki i młode chrząszcze w październiku.
