Gatunek, rozmieszczony w północnej części Europy (głównie w Fennoskandii), notowany też z nielicznych stanowisk w środkowej części kontynentu, przeważnie z obszarów górskich. Uważany przez niektórych autorów za gatunek borealno-alpejski. W Polsce wykazywany głównie z południowej części kraju. Znajdowany w ściółce, grzybach, wśród mchów, pod ekskrementami i opadłym listowiem.
