Gatunek rozpowszechniony w prawie całej Europie, wykazywany również z Kaukazu. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze, ale brak jeszcze udokumentowanych danych z wielu krain. Zamieszkuje zarówno tereny nizinne, jak i góry, gdzie dociera do strefy kosodrzewiny. Występuje pospolicie w grzybach, rzadziej pod opadłymi liśćmi i wśród mchów.
