Taxon description
Gatunek szeroko rozpowszechniony w zachodniej, południowej i środkowej Europie, wykazany ponadto z Kaukazu i Azji Mniejszej. W Polsce jest to chrząszcz rzadko spotykany, częściej notowany tylko na Śląsku Dolnym. Zamieszkuje tereny nizinne i niższe położenia górskie. Poławiany przeważnie w hubach na starych, zmurszałych pniach, niekiedy również w grzybach naziemnych, pod chrustem i gnijącymi gałęziami oraz pod innymi rozkładającymi się szczątkami roślinnymi.
