Gatunek znany poza Polską z Wysp Brytyjskich, Francji, Austrii, Czechosłowacji, Niemiec, Danii, Szwecji, ZSRR (okolice Kaliningradu) i Rumunii. Żyje w ściółce, mchu i trawie w lasach, zwykle w pobliżu wody.
