Taxon description
Gatunek zasiedlający głównie południową część środkowej Europy, na południe sięgający do północnej Hiszpanii i środkowych Włoch. W Polsce jest chrząszczem nadzwyczaj rzadko spotykanym. Występuje w zmurszałym drewnie starych, dziuplastych drzew liściastych, w gniazdach mrówek Lasius brunneus (Latr.), Lasius fuliginosus (Latr.) i Formica cinerea Mayr.
