Taxon description
Gatunek europejski, rozprzestrzeniony w południowo-zachodnim zasięgu świerka, notowany ponadto z Kaukazu, Azji Mniejszej i Afryki Zachodniej. Żeruje na świerku i jodle, rzadziej na sośnie, kosodrzewinie, modrzewiu, wejmutce, daglezji, wyjątkowo na czereśni, czeremsze i jemiole. Opada drzewa stojące i leżące, przeważnie gałęzie i gałązki oraz wierzchołkową część strzały. Obraz żerowiska gwiaździsty lub wieloramienny, częściej poprzeczny niż podłużny. Chodniki larwalne uszeregowane gęsto obok siebie, zwykle głęboko w bielu.
