Gatunek wschodnioeuropejski, który przez Czechosłowację i Austrię dociera aż do Szwajcarii; notowany jest też z Syberii. W Polsce jest chrząszczem nadzwyczaj rzadkim, wykazanym tylko z dwu krain. Zasiedla tereny nizinne i górzyste, docierając do wysokości około 1700 m n.p.m. Występuje na pobrzeżach lasu, polach i łąkach przyleśnych oraz nadrzecznych. Jest spotykany od maja do lipca na krzewach i drzewach liściastych oraz na kwitnących roślinach łąkowych.
