Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1987:
Gatunek kosmopolityczny, występujący jako synantrop w całej Europie. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze, ale stosunkowo rzadko notowany. Występuje tylko w ciepłych pomieszczeniach (magazyny, spichrze, młyny, piekarnie, sklepy, izby mieszkalne). Żeruje na zbożu i różnych produktach żywnościowych, jak mąka, otręby, suchy chleb i stare wędliny. Postacie dojrzałe mogą żyć dość długo, przeciętnie około półtora roku, w warunkach hodowlanych pojedyncze osobniki przeżywają kilka lat. Samice w okresie 8-10 miesięcy składają, co najmniej po 500 jaj.
