Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1987:
Gatunek opisany z Turyngii przed około 50 latami, następnie w 1934 roku po raz pierwszy notowany z Polski, z Holandii i Francji w 1938, w 1945 z Danii, w 1947 z Finlandii i Szwecji; ale żaden z tych krajów nie jest pierwotną ojczyzną tego chrząszcza, przypuszcza się, że może on pochodzić z południowego obszaru ZSRR lub Syberii. Gatunek bardzo ekspansywny, w ostatnich 30 latach jako synantrop rozpowszechnił się w niemal całej Europie. W Polsce, Szwecji i Finlandii jest najczęściej spotykanym gatunkiem omawianego rodzaju. W Polsce, mimo braku udokumentowanych danych z wielu krain, występuje synantropijnie na całym obszarze. Chrząszcz ten jest polifagiem żerującym na różnych suchych produktach żywnościowych pochodzenia roślinnego i zwierzęcego.
