Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1983:

Gatunek rozmieszczony głównie w Europie Wschodniej i we wschodniej części Europy Środkowej oraz na Syberii, notowany nadto z Kaukazu i Syrii. Wszędzie występuje lokalnie, rzadko i przeważnie pojedynczo znajdowany. W Polsce znany z nielicznych stanowisk, przy tym większość danych o rozmieszczeniu jest oparta na znaleziskach z ubiegłego stulecia. Zasiedla głównie tereny piaszczyste na obszarach nizinnych i w niższych położeniach górskich. Spotykany na trupach zwierząt mniej lub bardziej wysuszonych, na kościach i skórze. Poławiany od kwietnia do września, zwłaszcza w maju i czerwcu. Przylatuje do światła.
