Taxon description
Gatunek rozpowszechniony w całej Palearktyce, znany również z Ameryki Północnej, dokąd został zawleczony w ubiegłym stuleciu. W północnej części Azji na wschód od Jeniseju i Ałtaju występuje podgatunek A. alni coerulea Baly. Żyje na olszach, niekiedy występuje masowo, a żerując na liściach wyrządza poważne szkody młodnikom olszowym osłabiając drzewa.
