Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Motyl dość pospolity, lata w IX i X w środowiskach leśnych, parkach, ogrodach, zagajnikach i nad brzegami wód itp. Gąsienice łatwe do zaobserwowania na młodych dębach, wierzbach, topolach i niektórych innych drzewach liściastych początkowo mają ubarwienie żółtozielone w jasne paski, później ciemnieją i dorosłe mają barwę czerwoną z szerokim, wyraźnym białożółtym pasem wzdłuż boków ciała. Pod koniec życia żerują przeważnie na liściach roślin zielnych. Okres pojawu gąsienic: V i VI. Przepoczwarczenie się następuje w oprzędach na ziemi lub w ziemi. Zimują jaja.
