Burakowski et al. 1976:

Pospolity, szeroko rozprzestrzeniony gatunek palearktyczny, w Fennoskandii przekraczający koło podbiegunowe, a w górach sięgający do górnej granicy lasu, zwłaszcza wzdłuż cieków wodnych. Żyje w zimnej wodzie leśnych zbiorników wodnych, w rozlewiskach źródeł i wolno płynących wodach.
