Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986c:
[KFP 3186: Anthocomus coccineus] Gatunek występujący głównie w południowej i środkowej części Europy, docierający na północ do Wysp Brytyjskich, Danii i południowych prowincji Szwecji, wykazywany też z Azji Mniejszej, Syrii i Iranu. W Polsce prócz wyższych gór występuje prawdopodobnie na całym obszarze, nie jest jednak jeszcze notowany z niektórych krain. Zasiedla tereny wilgotne i bagniste na obszarach nizinnych i w niższych położeniach górskich. Imagines ukazują się w upalne lata już w sierpniu i przeżywają do października. Samice składają zwykle jaja we wrześniu do pustych torebek nasiennych sitów — Juncus L. Larwy żerują na martwych owadach; przezimowują w pustych łodygach roślin.
