Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1995:
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w niemal całej Europie (nie znany jeszcze z Danii i Wysp Brytyjskich), w Szwecji docierający do koła podbiegunowego. W Polsce występuje prawdopodobnie w całym kraju, z wyjątkiem wyższych partii górskich. Żyje na świerku pospolitym — Picea excelsa (Lam.) Lk., sośnie zwyczajnej — Pinus silvestris L. i sośnie czarnej — P. nigra Arnold. Samice w kwietniu składają jaja głównie w pączki na pędach wierzchołkowych, rzadziej bocznych. Larwy w maju-czerwcu wyżerają całkowicie pączki i budują w czerwcu-lipcu komorę poczwarkową w kokonie utworzonym z ekskrementów larwy, resztek żeru i igieł. Szkody powstałe skutkiem żeru larw występują zwłaszcza na drzewach rosnących na pobrzeżach lasu, przesiekach oraz na drzewach stojących pojedynczo.
