Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1991:
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony w Europie, basenie Morza Śródziemnego i Azji Środkowej. Wykazywany jako szkodnik lnu uprawnego — Linum usitatissimum L. Larwa żyje w glebie, odżywiając się korzonkami lnu. Poza uprawami lnu spotykany przez cały rok i w innych biotopach, toteż prawdopodobnie żeruje także na innych roślinach, ale nie na roślinach z rodziny wilczomleczowatych — Euphorbiaceae, co mogłaby sugerować nazwa gatunkowa tego chrząszcza.
