Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1986a:
Gatunek europejski, rozprzestrzeniony od południowych części Wysp Brytyjskich i Fennoskandii przez cały środkowy kontynent aż do północnych części Włoch i Półwyspu Bałkańskiego. Spotykany w ciągu całego roku pod rozkładającymi się szczątkami roślinnymi, zwłaszcza pod gnijącymi burakami i słomą. Występuje jako poważny szkodnik w uprawach buraka cukrowego i pastewnego. Zarówno chrząszcze, jak i larwy żerują wiosną na młodych wschodach buraków powodując niekiedy całkowite ich zniszczenie.
