Taxon description
Burakowski et al. 1979:
Gatunek rozprzestrzeniony głównie w środkowej i południowej Europie, notowany również z jednej prowincji Danii, z Kaukazu i Azji Mniejszej. W Polsce chrząszcz rzadko spotykany zarówno na terenach nizinnych jak i górskich. Prawdopodobnie występuje na całym obszarze, nie znany jednak jeszcze z wielu krain. Znajdowany na gliniastych, szlamowatych brzegach wód, głównie stojących, na glebach uprawnych i pobrzeżach dróg.
