Taxon description
Heintze 1990:
Jeden z niewielu przedstawicieli rodziny, latający w dzień i karmiący się nektarem kwiatów. Motyle tego gatunku spotyka się w VI i VII. Gąsienice żerują na wielu roślinach zielnych, na krzewach różnych gatunków wierzb oraz na malinach i jeżynach od IX do VI, z przerwą na sen zimowy. Nie zmieniają ubarwienia od postaci młodocianej. Przepoczwarczają się w białawym oprzędzie na ziemi. Poczwarki odznaczają się zmiennością ubarwienia od czarnego do czerwonoczarnego.
