Taxon description
Gatunek znany głównie ze środkowej części Europy, na północ sięgający do południowych części Anglii i Szwecji, a na południe do północnych Włoch. W Polsce chrząszcz nadzwyczaj rzadko spotykany, znany tylko z dwu krain, od 60 lat nie notowany. Zasiedla biotopy wilgotne: bagniska leśne, łąki łęgowe, podmokłe olszyny, zacienione rowy w lasach. Poławiany przeważnie wśród mchów i pod rozkładającymi się szczątkami roślinnymi.
