Taxon description

Burakowski et al. 1986a:

Pospolity gatunek kosmopolityczny, w środkowej Europie najczęściej poławiany z omawianego rodzaju. W Polsce notowany z dziewięciu krain. Występuje głównie w spichrzach, składach i magazynach zbożowych. Znajdowany wśród zboża, ryżu, kukurydzy i w ich przetworach, poza tym w suszonych owocach i orzeszkach ziemnych. Nie występuje jednak jako szkodnik, gdyż odżywia się tylko pleśnią pokrywającą wymienione produkty. Znajdowany również w naturalnych środowiskach pod odstającą korą drzew iglastych i liściastych.
